UB Community Extension Svcs. eyes more intensified research

University of Bohol (UB) through the Community Extension Services Office has reinforced its effort to intensify the research in the academe.

The Community Extension Services Office of UB joined the University of the Philippines 2nd Colleges and Universities Public Service Conference (CUPSCon 2), with the theme “Compassion and Social Responsibility: Cornerstones of Public Service and Extension in Higher Education”, held last November 28-29 at the University of the Philippines Cebu Performing Arts Hall, Cebu City

The conference was a platform created to effectively utilize teaching and research for extension, provide avenue for scholarly discussions on lessons and best practices for continuous development, and to present evidences on ground-breaking initiatives that highlight higher education institutions’ social responsibility and extension projects/services.

A team of paper presenters headed by the Community Extension Services Officer, Dr. Marilou V. Fudalan, presented seven best-practices on community extension of the university. The abstracts were processed at the University of the Philippines Dilliman Office of Public Affairs.

The following were the paper presenters with the respective projects: Crmgst. Adelfa C. Maranga, Extension Coordinator for the College of Criminology on “Adopt-a-Jail Project”; Dr. Marilou V. Fudalan, “Sandingan Organic Chicken and Swine Production and Women Empowerment Project (SOCS-PWE) in Sandingan, Loon, Bohol”; Ms. Jelinda R. Fortich, Extension Coordinator for Teachers College, “Adopt-a-School Program for Cancatac Elementary School, Cancatac, Corella,Bohol”.

Ms. Ivana Lei R. Rosales, Extension Coordinator of the College of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy, “Candabong Community Enterprise-Loboc, Bohol”; Ms. Unilyn E. Solon, Extension Coordinator of the College of Arts and Sciences,”Sevilla-Loboc Community Enterprises in Support of Ecological-Cultural Tourism (SLCE-Eco Tour) Project”.

Ms. Michaela D. Rosalejos, College of Business and Accountancy,”Sawali Making Project in Maitum, Catigbian, Bohol”; and Ms. Edralyne Seth B. Besa, Program Chairperson of the College of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy,”University of Bohol Sweat-Equity and Empowerment of the Disabled (UB-SEED) in Tangnan, Panglao, Bohol.
