Taking advatage of having the only Olympic size swimming pool in the province and capitalizing on homecourt advantage, the University of Bohol Victoriano D. Tirol – Advanced Learning Center again showed why its swimmers are kings of the medal tally after ruling the Tagbilaran City Swimming Meet last November 22-25 at the Victoriano B. Tirol, Jr. Sports Complex Aqua Center.
In the elementary boys division, Victoriano Martin Adiong Tirol, IV bagged a gold, two silvers and a bronze medal, followed by Angelo Noel Galego with one gold and two bronze medals.
Meanwhile in the elementary girls, Jovy Claire Jaspe clinched three gold medals, a silver medal and a bronze medal while fellow swimmer Josen Pia Ybas claiming a silver medal and two bronze medals.
The elementary division team is under Coach Robert Taguisa, LPT and Trainer Junrie Cruzo.
Meanwhile,eight swimmers in the secondary division have made it to the top 10. Secondary boys: Jummel Nino Jaspe – 2 golds, 1 bronze; Joshua Lacea – 3 silvers, 1 bronze; Obed Baloria – 2 silvers, 2 bronzes; Zachary Lex Castro – 1 silver, 2 bronze medals. Secondary girls: Charllyn Allysa Romanos – 4 gold, 1 silver; Zoe Austral – 2 golds, 1 bronze; Jaryl Mahinay – 1 gold, 2 silvers; Gene Nadine Teh – 2 silver medals.
The high school team is coached byMaryy Ann Banoc, LPT, and Robert Taguisa, LPT, Trainers –Ruben Impang and Junrie Cruzo.
The young swimmers earned the ticket to compete in the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) Meet on February 2018 here in Bohol. (labboncales)
