Netizens reacted sharply and brought their fury online regarding the plan to increase the entrance fee to the world-famous Chocolate Hills after a hearing on the matter was tackled by a committee of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan last week.
After the story broke out on social media, netizens said it would be unfair and “too expensive” to enter and enjoy the sights in the Chocolate Hills complex located in Carmen town.
The SP committee on ways and means conducted a meeting to discuss the hike on the entrance fee proposed by the local governement unit of Carmen.
Carmen Mayor Ricardo Francisco Toribio told the SP that at the start of the New Year, the Chocolate Hills management will implement new entrance fees as stated on their Revenue Code.
The new entrance fees are P100 for adults, and P50 for children 10 years and below.
The increase in fees is based on section 6E.02 of the 2014 Revenue Code of the town of Carmen enacted by the Sangguniang Bayan back in 2014 and implemented back in 2015.
However, netizens showed their fury saying the fees are too much.
