Guv shares most business friendly award with partners

The Governor shared the piece de resistance of being business friendly to the business community, in a gesture of shared celebration.

Chatto directed Bohol Investment and Promotion Center (BIPC) Head Maria Fe M. Dominise to immediately get together under one setting all of Bohol’s business partners and stakeholders to further the province’s goals with “One shared Vision, Prosperity for All” at its Partners Forum’s theme Friday.

Acting Provincial Administrator Atty. John Mitchell L. Boiser welcomed partners and guests, while BIPC’s Fe Dominise gave an overview of the award.

She was seconded by Gov. Chatto who chronologically and proudly narrated the events leading to the awarding ceremonies with no less than Pres. Rodrigo Duterte himself profusely congratulating the Bohol delegation.

Rosalinda G. Paredes who, as City USAID-SURGE Project Coordinator, and who fully understands the award’s implications, shared her expert opinion on how to go forward from hereon, thereby sustaining and enhancing said award’s gains.

Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator Atty. John Titus Vistal, SecGen of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC), shared with his audience the province’s Future Infrastructure Support for Businesses and Investments; while Consultant Alfonso Damalerio II wowed stakeholders with Panglao Airport photos and other upcoming and future Bohol projects, which he assured, are already in the pipeline, as already also earlier assured by the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) and the national government.

Statements of commitment to continue supporting all of the Provincial Government’s economic efforts by prominent Boholano business personalities upped the atmosphere with everyone oozing with excitement and discussing what they have in store for Bohol.

This came not as a surprise with everyone, especially after seeing all the upcoming projects as shown and fully explained by both SecGen Vistal and Consultant Damalerio.

To further strengthen what he has undoubtedly started and made a trend when it comes to lasting and fruitful partnerships, Chatto then consequently signed an Executive Order (EO) “Enjoining all local chief executives (LCEs) to continue maintaining and ensuring business-friendly local government units (LGUs).”

Barely a couple of weeks ago, the Philippine Chamber of Commerce of Industry (PCCI)), the country’s acknowledged biggest business organization since 2001, conferred its ‘Most Business Friendly Award’ 2017 to Bohol out of 80 other contenders.

Bohol Gov. Edgar Chatto and Acting Vice Gov. Venzencio Arcamo received from Pres. Rodrigo Duterte the “Most Business-Friendly Province” Award at the honoring rites highlighting the 43rd Philippine Business Conference (PBC) at the Manila Hotel last October 19.

The president was assisted by Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Sec. Ramon Lopez and co-assisted by PCCI President George Barcelon, PCCI LGU Awards Chairman Jose Alejandro and PBC Conference Awards Chairman Samie Lim.

This is most unsurprising for most Boholanos because for them, the incumbent Provincial Leadership’s brand of shared leadership and collaborative efforts with all its partner agencies has long already had enhanced, strengthened and improved the brand of public service in Bohol’s history.

One of the proofs that Bohol is more than worthy of the award is the recent meeting of Chatto with National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Chief Ret. Gen. Ricardo Visaya at the Coordination and Stakeholders Meeting where being presented by NIA-7 Director Engr. Ramon Bugacia were its 2017-2018 NIA budget as well as their agency’s plans and programs with Bohol as partner.

Another such proof are the 49 proponents or investors who are much interested in providing for Bohol’s power supply.

And another such very prominent proof and also a sure-fire contributor for Bohol’s sustainable development was the very recent inaugural flight from Davao-Tagbilaran of Philippine Airlines which included no less than Cabinet Secretary Leoncio Evasco.

Its brand new 86-seater Q4 Newgen Bombardier is now plying the Tagbilaran-Davao and Davao-Tagbilaran route four times a week: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday. Tagb-Davao: 12:25 PM. Davao-Tagb: 10:40am.

The governor said this new milestone of Philippine Airlines is truly worth celebrating as Boholanos have long clamored for direct flights to and from Davao.

But what was most interesting and very inspiring was what Bohol Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) President Al Uy had to say during the forum: “We’re very lucky to have a governor (referring to Gov. Chatto) who knows all the programs and projects of the province by heart and who knows how to implement these projects for the good of all Boholanos.” (Janet Villarojo)
