Photo shows City Mayor John Geesnell “Baba” Yap with OrmocCity Mayor Richard “Goma” Gomez and CDRRMC Action Officer Gerard Lavadia in the ASEAN Forum held in Manila last week. It was last February when Mayor Yap was chosen among five other Mayors to represent the Philippines in the Philippines-China Mayors Dialogue in Guangzhou, China themed as “Inherit the Traditional Friendship, Enhance the Pragmatic Cooperation.” Together with other five Local Chief Executives, Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco of Zamboanga City, Mayor Nestor L. Alvarez of the Science City of Muñoz, Mayor Christian Dionisio Natividad of Malolos City, Mayor Edgar Pamintuan of Angeles City and Mayor Maria LaarniCayetano of Taguig City, the local leaders exchanged notes with other leaders on economy and governance. Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano headed the delegation. This recent convention is still an off-shoot of the China Forum five months ago. The purpose of which is still to explore areas of partnership between the two countries, specifically in the level of local government.
