DOT to host Accessible Tourism Pilipinas Forum on September 27
MANILA – The Department of Tourism (DOT) will host Accessible Tourism Pilipinas Forum on Tuesday at the Manila Diamond Hotel in celebration of the World Tourism Day 2016.
DOT, in its effort to advocate accessible tourism, will recognize barrier-free tourism entities in the country while discussing the welfare of persons with disabilities (PWDs), senior citizens, pregnant women, and families traveling with small children during travel.
The forum also aims to focus on making tourism sites and establishments accessible to PWDs.
The one-day event will be led by DOT Secretary Wanda Teo and the will be participated by industry leaders, PWDs, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), SM Cares, National Council on Disability Affairs, and universal design experts.
The World Tourism Day is held annually on September 27 and has aimed to promote awareness of the impact of tourism on a nation’s political, cultural, social, and economic growth. This year, official celebrations will take place in Bangkok, Thailand on the theme of “Tourism for All – Promoting Universal Accessibility”.
