Army, police confident to protect Bohol from terror

The local police and army reiterated they are more than ready to protect the Boholanos against threats of terrorist groups.

This was the assurance made by Brig. Gen. Arnulfo Matanguihan on Wednesday during the regular Provincial Peace and Order Council meeting at the People’s Mansion.

Matanguihan the security forces based in Bohol are more than capable to protect the province, but he said they can’t do it alone.

The security forces also need the help of the people in any way it can to prevent the terrorists from coming to the province.

Matanguihan said the Visayas is under level 2 where there is an intent to sow terror, but the terrorists are less than capable to spread terrorism.

He said even if almost all forces are committed to Marawi, and Bohol only has 300 troops, the military can always airlift personnel just like what happened last April.

The concern came from a member of the council asking how capable the army and the police in protecting the people against the threats of terrorism.

Bohol has been exposed to terrorism threat several months back, but the threat was neutralized with the help of the community.

The Abu Sayyaf Group made an incursion to the province only to be foiled by the effort of the police and the military.

All 11 ASG members that went in the province were neutralized.
